What is the shelf life of Magnalube-G?
We normally state that the shelf life is 24 months, but depending on the storage conditions, Magnalube-G could last for decades.

PLEASE NOTE: Magnalube-G meets the conditions to be used at as a sealed for life lubricant. Once applied, the grease will perform for several years or more depending on the application.

How long will Magnalube-G last in a given application?

Magnalube-G is used in many sealed for life applications, such as electric motors and will outlast most other products. However, the exact service life of the product depends on variables like temperature, load, application, environment, etc. If you would like us to evaluate your specific situation please contact us.

Is Magnalube-G compatible with rubber O-rings and Seals?

Yes

Is Magnalube-G compatible with other oils or greases?

In most cases, the answer is yes. We do advise our clients to clean the old grease as much as possible before applying Magnalube. However, if it is not possible to clean out the existing grease, then make sure you reapply the Magnalube-G at an earlier interval after the first application. This will ensure that any of the old lube has been fully replaced.

I do not see my application on your list. Does that mean it won’t work?

Absolutely not. The list of applications is a general list that encompasses most of the mainstream application uses for our greases. If you, however, have an application that is not listed, please feel free to contact us with your specific needs and one of our specialists will get back to you with an answer as soon as possible.

Is Magnalube-G waterproof grease?

Yes. Magnalube-G is completely water resistant. Water has no harmful effects on the Magnalube-G grease and its performance. Magnalube-G does an excellent job sealing out water and other contaminants to prevent corrosion.

What is the difference between Magnalube-G and Magnalube-GX?

The main difference are the thickener composition in both greases and the extra additives found in Magnalube-GX . Magnalube-G contains an elastomer polyurea thickener while the Magnalube-GX uses a lithium complex thickener with Molybdenum Disulfide. While both greases are classified as high temperature greases, the GX is made especially for those applications with extreme pressures.

What is the highest temperature for Magnalube-G?

The highest temperature Magnalube-G can reach is contingent on the amount of pressure being exerted on the grease and the type of application the grease is being used on. Magnalube-G will work very well in temperatures reaching 530° F (277°C). We have also noticed that Magnalube-G would work in temperatures close to 550°F, if used intermittently.

What is the highest temperature for Magnalube-GX?

Magnalube-GX has a dropping point of 550°F, and the added protection of molybdenum disulphide that will withstand temperatures up to 750°F. This feature provides extra protection or your equipment if the grease is overheated or if a regularly scheduled lubrication interval is missed.

Are your greases food grade?

Magnalube-G has an NSF food contact rating of H2 which means no contact. However, Magnalube-G can be used in food processing machines as long as there is a clear understanding that at no point can the grease come in contact with the food.

Is Magnalube-G RoHS compliant?

Yes, Magnalube-G meets the criteria of RoHS and is 100% compliant.

Is Magnalube-G a suitable bearing grease?

Magnalube-G makes a great bearing grease. Polyurea greases are usually the lubricant of choice when it comes to bearings due to the high temperature performance, lubricant stability, dielectric properties, and corrosion resistance. The elastomer PTFE thickener Magnalube-G employs will not only fortify but will actually extend the life of the bearings and reduce the amount of maintenance lubrication needed on your bearing application.

Will Magnalube-G prevent corrosion?

Absolutely. Magnalube-G utilizes a combination of rust, oxidation, and corrosion inhibitors, which along with the elastomer PTFE gelling agent, prevent any electro-chemical reactions from occurring. In addition, Magnalube-G is water resistant, so it does an excellent job sealing out water and other contaminants to prevent corrosion.

Is Magnalube-G electrically conductive?

No. The elastomer/PTFE thickener is an excellent insulator with a high dielectric strength.

Is Magnalube-G waterproof grease?

Yes. Magnalube-G is completely water resistant. Water has no harmful effects on the Magnalube-G grease and its performance. Magnalube-G does an excellent job sealing out water and other contaminants to prevent corrosion.

What color is Magnalube-G?

Magnalube-G has a green color appearance.

What is molybdenum disulphide?

Molybdenum disulphide, commonly known as moly, is an extreme pressure additive used to impart special non-surface sacrificial anti-scuff and anti-fretting performance. It has excellent adhesion to surfaces and will enhance the greases ability to withstand heavier loads, higher operating temperatures, and reduce friction and wear.

What is PTFE?

PTFE is the chemical symbol for Polytetrafluroethylene, which is a synthetic fluropolymer solid used in Magnalube-G greases. PTFE has a very low coefficient of friction, is chemically inert to most substances, is non-conductive, and has excellent dispersion properties.

Is Magnalube-G RoHS compliant?

Yes, Magnalube-G meets the criteria of RoHS and is 100% compliant.

What percentage of Molybdenum Disulphide is there in Magnalube-GX?

Magnalube-GX is composed of 3% molybdenum disulphide.

Is Magnalube-G a synthetic grease?

Magnalube-G is not a synthetic grease; however, some of the base components in Magnalube-G are synthetic. In general, Magnalube-G’s properties have produced very similar results as compared to the benefits of a synthetic type grease.

Does Magnalube-G contain any silicone?

No, Magnalube-G does not contain any silicone components.
